Anyone had experience playing these tubas? There's one on eBay now.

This is a Pro 2000 model tuba. The Daryl Smith BBb is actually smaller. It is big, but very lightweight. I enjoyed the tone, but it can break up if you really push it. Upper register is flighty, as you will find on many BAT's, but overall, a fine horn. I've never actually liked the minimal bell flair, by the way, but that's just me.

Confused

Post by Ace »

Thanks for the response, Tony. However, I'm confused because the seller of the instrument on eBay describes it as "heavy" and uses the "Daryl Smith 2000" nomenclature.

Can anyone clarify? Thanks.

Yep, It's a Smith. I didn't look closely enough. It does feel more substantial than the Pro 2000, and plays really well. I've spent some time on the Smith as well. A great horn, and better than the Pro 2000!!!!

I'd get it!
