Thinkin' about gettin' out of the deal on your house and buyin' it, Marty?
Already have a minivan; but no, I am not buying it. House situation is in the toilet for the time being but could change in the coming months.
These things are not near as heavy as they look, especially the early ones.
Since they come apart, transportation really isn't too bad. When I had mine, I did not have dedicated cases. I used my 2145 gigbag for the body (with plenty of room to spare) and used one of those bags you put on top of your car to carry extra luggage to carry the bell. Ran all over the Eastern half of the country with them under a bus and didn't have any problems.
These are GREAT horns, but without an upright bell - available now from Kanstul / Lee Stofer - they really are a one (maybe two) trick pony for most players.
FWIW, if anyone has a Rudy 5/4 bell lying around you can replace the entire bell stack with that as an alternative.
