I've been looking for a 4/4 american-style CC. If you own or have played one of the PT-606 CC's, what are your impressions of the horn? Strengths/weaknesses?
Also, could you please PM me the price these horns are selling at? Are there any good alternatives for a 4/4 american-style 4P/1R horn out there now?
Thanks.

I have a student who just got one last week. It has a great sound! He plays it in quintet, band, and orchestra. It is plenty big, but fine for small stuff, too.
It was his original intent to buy a PT 6 (I play one), but I recommended the 606 because its seemed more appropriate for an all around instrument. It was a wise choice for him.
In my quick trial of his horn I was impressed. Good intonation, great sound, fast pistons. The tuba will never hold him back. Other horns he was considering were the Meinl Weston 2000, and Mirafone 1291.
Price: More than I can afford.

Sam horns
Hi-
BTW, is there anyone out there who has one of Sam's CC piston conversions for sale? They are terrific. I know Sam has a dandy one available, but I am just wondering if anyone who has one is selling one? If so, drop me a line at: jonestuba@juno.com with details. I'd be interested.
Thanks-
mark
