Fingering online trainers.

Post by dopey »

http://www.musictheory.net has some, however its just for Bb tuba.

Does anyone know any for Eb tuba or CC or F? I know the trumpet one is -pretty- much right, and if I add 3 flats in my head to that key and think the F#s as A naturals, etc etc... It is better then nothing.

I am trying to do anything I can to shorten the learning curve and I am fluent with my trumpet fingerings, so I don't think it will be -that- bad. Just, at work I find myself with plenty of time that I could be hacking away at a virtual tuba, really making those fingerings solid if I had a place to do it!

any suggestions?

Fingerings

Post by bill »

Fingering an Eb tuba is the same as a Bb trumpet but, in bass clef, the sharp/flat paradigm is different. In treble clef, transposed for Eb, fingering an Eb tuba is exactly the same as a Bb trumpet in treble clef transposed for Bb. If you know BBb tuba fingerings,in Bass clef, and want to play a Bass clef passage on a Bb trumpet, use the BBb tuba fingerings.

Why do you want to know this?
Always make a good sound; audiences will forget if you miss a note but making a good sound will get you the next job.

The only way to learn Eb tuba in bass clef is to play the damn thing. I am dumb with only a modest amount of musical ability, and I taught myself in about 2 weeks playing an hour a day or less. Week one play only Eb. Week two switch back and forth - play a piece on Eb, then play it on BBb (or whatever your normal contrabass key is). Put in the time. The computer will not help you - your fingers and brain over time will.

I think I may of explained what I was looking for wrong.

I know the best way to learn a new instrument is to play it, which is what I plan to do. I was looking for something I could do while I am at work. Since I work with computers all day and have time when I am merely surfing the web and browsing if I had a site I could train my fingers would be excellent!

Bill - I wasn't trying to figure out the relationships between trumpet and Eb/BBb tuba. I was just stating that the online trainer for trumpet is very similiar for the fingerings, with exception of sharps/flats...

So I guess back to my original question, does anyone know of an online trainer for Eb tuba like the one at musictheory.net?

Sorry for the confusion=)
