Thanks, I hoped it would be a New Standard. Somewhere I’ve read about the conical valve caps (new standard) so I wasn't sure. Now I hope it's not sold yet to be able to test it
Looks exactly like mine, just plated instead of lacquered, and the leadpipe is a little differently contoured, and in better shape. New Standard. But it's had something done to it, because those are not New Standard valve caps. May have been rebuilt with B&H side of the room Imp parts.
I'm not a Besson authority, one of my horns is a 1971 BBb New Standard and that horn is different than mine. I don't know if the New Standard changed over time and I don't know how long they were made. I'm not saying it isn't a New Standard, but the bell looks wider than mine and the bell taper is more like an old American Eb than mine. The comp tubing looks different as well. I can't compare the picture to my horn right now as mine is at a recital hall.
If it is a new Standard and the valves are good and it plays well that is a pretty good price.
