No, I don't think that's the case with all of them at all. I'm one who prefers playing a CC, and I'm not so into BBb tubas, but I must say I love the 282 tuba. For me, it's one of the easiest BBb's to play, and very nimble. Even though Miraphone calls it a 3/4 tuba, it's much bigger than any other 3/4, like Lidl, 184, Yammie 103, etc. I've been calling this a 7/8 tuba, as it isn't really that much smaller than a 186. Also, it has a graduated bore valve section, so the 4th valve is a bit larger than the 1st, and the low notes roar out of this horn for me. Also, the 3rd valve slide is decently long and easily accessible, so if you need to phwap out a big long low C, you can pull the 3rd slide and get it right in tune with all four down. This horn is decently cheap for a German-made pro horn, and I didn't notice any pitch problems. I say, for those who want an easier to handle BBb, this is a winner.

That pic is of a 182. I don't know what improvements have been made for the 282, but the leadpipe and 1st valve slide are in a more traditional place on the 282 than on the pictured one above. Also, I like that big downward pointing tuning slide - no spinning the tuba around to get all the water out. And, it has a short leadpipe for a rotary horn, which I believe helps make it feel like a bigger horn than one might think at first glance.
