Signature bug?

Postby tubaphore » Thu Dec 13, 2007 3:59 pm

Anyone else notice this signature bug? I had a three line signature in the "standard" text size and it seemed that phpBB padded the bottom of the sig. with an extra line of white space underneath. Now that I've added another line and shrunk the size down to SIZE=9 there seems to be a few lines of white space beneath my signature

"Windshieldbug" seems to be affected by it, too, but wchoc86 is not (just looking at this short thread).

It also affects "the elephant" in this thread. In the second page it seems that he has two lines of white space beneath his signature in his first post and about twice that amount in his next post.

EDIT:
It seems to bug out differently in IE and Firefox. Firefox shows one line of white space on the first iteration of the signature and then more on each subsequent iteration. IE shows no white space on the first, then many lines on the subsequent signatures of the same person.

Don't know why I rambled on about this.....maybe it's because I don't want to finish all these papers that I have due by next week?

Of course it won't show up here in the feedback forum.

it seems to be a random thing.

In this thread alone, your sig block display's differently in both posts, right next to each other.

Mine is affected randomly as well, it seems. I wonder if it is attached to particular posts or if an individual post will display differently each time it is reloaded into a browser window.

Also, for Sean, when I have been writing recently, if I alter text size or color by highlighting the text and clicking the buttons (instead of manually typing in the tags) I get lots of garbage tags thrown in with my chosen ones, each one being placed within my post in random places. Lots of size=0 and color=#444444 (or whatever number) gets placed in the text.

Allow me to demonstrate. I will type "Dark Red" and then I will go back and highlight the text of these two words. Then I will select Dark Red from the above menu. All will be fine until I click anywhere within the text entry box. At that time extra tags appear. Here goes nothing:

Dark Red

Now quote me to see what happened when I clicked within the text box.

Same or the size menu.

Tiny Text

Huge Text

This started about five days ago for me. Is this a PHPBB deal or is it browser related? I have not taken the time to try this on other browsers. (Sorry.)

Now I will click Submit and see what all this looks like …

Regarding the signature blocks, they do sometimes change after reloading the page. Post 1 in this thread looked normal at first and 2 had a blank space. Now 1 has a space and 2 has several. Mine looks fine but does not in other threads.

**Edit**

This post now seems to have four of five blank spaces added to the sig block.

Huh. Good luck. I hope we did not break something here …

**Edit**

And, of course, now it is normal.

Sean, did you ever get that book of tuba/horn Christmas duets from me?

Tubaphore's second post has more space under the sig because the personal info on the right takes up more vertical space than the post itself. The problem isn't the sig in this case, it's the chunky personal info part of the post.
