The worst thing I learned on tubenet is that it matters what horn I bring to the audition.

stolen horn
Worst thing I ever learned was that the horn I had just bought was, in fact, stolen. All eventually ended well, more or less, but it wasn't a pleasant experience for any of us involved.

That early Conn Hellebergs don't actually play themselves. I thought mine was just shy.
Wade, I have known people in the Majors that have FD, and their life has gone from golden child to pure hell overnight, so I would agree, but, as you say, knowledge and support is power.

This couldn't possibly be true. There must be some mistake. Everyone knows they play themselves.windshieldbug wrote:That early Conn Hellebergs don't actually play themselves. I thought mine was just shy.

Thanks, Wade. Unfortunately, this may qualify for the worst thing I have ever learned on TubeNet.the elephant wrote:Well, they only play themselves until they have earned enough to pay for themselves. (This can be upwards of $750.) Then they suddenly quit. This can be rather disconcerting if you are in the middle of a cadenza in a concerto.TubaRay wrote:This couldn't possibly be true. When they cut out, you must flip the toggle switch on the shank over to "Manual Input" and all will be good again. Oh yeah, you might have to jump start them, too …
