The Chicago Symphony Brass section will present two concerts in December.
The concert scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 20 at 3 PM (during the Midwest Clinic) is presently sold out unless more seats are added on-stage.
The remaining concert scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 9 at 3 PM in Symphony Center (Orchestra Hall), 220 South Michigan Avenue, still has seats available.
For schools still in session within a couple hour drive of Chicago, this would be an excellent opportunity to organize (that means you!! if your teacher, prof., or graduate assistant hasn't already done it) for a car pool or securing a van from your school, leaving in the morning, catching a pizza in Chicago, hearing the concert and being home by late evening. Looking for a perfect holiday, birthday or early graduation gift to a brass enthusiast...
Student tickets are available on the web (www.cso.org). Group tickets available by speaking with Shifra Werch (312-294-3042)
Program:
Dukas Fanfare from La péri
Ravel/Kreines Pavane for a Dead Princess
Gounod The Calf of Gold from Faust
Tomasi Fanfares liturgiques
Debussy Fanfare from The Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian
Mussorgsky/Howarth Pictures at an Exhibition
Last year’s event sold out!
Cheers, northern

Seats are still available for the 9th, though the lower and upper balcony are pretty much sold out. If you've ever wanted to experience a Chicago Christmas this is a great way to get started. Millenium Park and the Art Institute lions are just across the street and State Street holiday windows are back. Parking in the Grant Street South parking lot puts you right in front of Symphony Center.

I called Symphony Center box office yesterday and found out they still have on stage seating for $75.00. Just in case you'd like to sit close to the action. I'll be up in the terrace seating just behind y'all. Look for the ugly dude sitting next to Roger Lewis. (Is that being redundant?)
See you there.
