Chat Down?

Postby the elephant » Sun Dec 23, 2007 6:06 pm

I cannot log into the chat room function right now. Are you switching it over to the new stuff you had been asking about, or is it just kaput for the moment? (Or have you decided to just pull it altogether?)

chat has been down for some time.

It's a shame because it was really one of the better features of the forum- a great way to meet people and network, even if the occasional troll muddled things up.

Has the Chat function been disavowed again?

While it did often serve as an under-the-bridge meeting place for trolls, it was also a great networking tool for those less fortunate and less connected. Is there a free forum/chat program out there that could be implemented, or do they all cost money?

I'm not sure how they work on the server's side, but an IRC chat might be a nice idea. The clients are free and pretty easy to use.

If not, though, we could have a "go-to" AIM chat room name (like "tubenet" or something). I've used this many times to great results and would love to see one here! To use it, you need an AIM screenname and client program which are both free.
