Well, I've been called upon to be a Smart Bomb specialist with the Air Force Band of the Reserve, stationed in GA for an upcoming tour. (They are an Active Duty band, stationed at a reserve base)
Actually, several members of our band will be augmenting them to flush out some sections for larger works. It's going to be grueling, coming from Dayton, OH to the beaches of Florida, but someone has to do it! If you make it to a show, I'm the tall, shiny headed guy hiding behind a Rudy 5/4. Come say hi... I've got all my shots.
The Tour program looks like this:
PROGRAM
(1st Half Selected from the following pieces)
Awayday – Adam Gorb
Sabre and Spurs – John Philip Sousa
Scenes from the Louvre – Norman Dello Joio
Under the Double Eagle – Joseph Wagner
Be Thou My Vision – arr. Travis Cross

Warm weather... we both know that's a relative term! When we left Dayton, OH Wednesday, it was 11 degrees. Here, it is a balmy 48ish and we're walking around in short sleeves. I can't imagine what Florida is going to feel like!
Our first rehearsal was today... this show is a serious blow. If you are in the area of any of the gigs, you'll not be disappointed. I was most taken by the Rock Concert band piece featuring a seriously kickin bagpiper. (Yes, I just typed that.. and meant it).
The legit stuff is tough and plentiful. Lots of notes and lots of counting!
If you make it to a show, I'm the tall bald, goofy looking guy.
