Rent a Tuba in Seattle?

Post by tubatooter1940 »

Hi guys,
We have been corresponding with "The Pirates of Puget Sound" Parrot head club as well as the "Parrot heads of East Washington" Parrot head club about flying two of us out to Washington State this summer for a series of concerts over a long weekend. If we book a house concert in addition to the two other dates, that may total enough to pay airfare (they're going to put us up in a motorhome - chance for a sail in Puget Sound 8) ), expenses (burgers 'n beer) and have a few bucks to bring home to mom'n'em.
There is no cash for a third seat on the plane for my old King Eb.
If I could rent an Eb tuba in Seattle (a beater would do if it is a good player), that may be a possible option. My mouthpiece is a G&W Diablo with a small (european) shank.
Any counsel from tuberists in the Seattle area would be much appreciated.

I know one music store that has a decent BBb for rent. I don't know anyone who has an Eb.

Thank you Washington State tubenetters for your responses, encouragement and p.m.'s.
Looks like the trip is going to happen. Things are gonna be great. I hope to meet some tubenetters. I further hope to find time and opportunity to hoist a beer and swap stories with some of you.

We have tenatively booked three concerts on September 4th, 5th and 6th in the Seattle area. We will probably fly in on Wednesday the 3rd and fly back Sunday, the 7th. More details later. Watch for p.m.'s.

Way cool! The Eb tuba Dennis is going to use is going into Oberloh this weekend to get squared away and ready to go!

It will be fun!
