I played on the St.Pete Eb at the Tuba Exchange stand in TMEA and thought it sounded nice.
The valve linkages were new, different from the most recent St.Pete I've played on.
Who knows, it might be a good budget horn...
What does tubenet think of these?

I was working at the Tuba Exchange booth and, I have to say that when I found out that Steve brought a St. Pete Eb, I was really excited to try it out, especially given how good their BBb tubas have gotten recently. I found the St. Pete Eb to be rather comparable to the Miraphone Norwegian Star. Granted, the Star is a superior horn, but the St. Pete sure does a good job of copying it...especially for the price. After getting to play one, I can safely say that I would have ended up buying one had I not already purchased my "intermediate" Eb horn before I move up to either the Wilson 3400S or the Miraphone Ambassador (I played on that one for the first time at TMEA and I really loved it...it's going to be a very tough choice to make that will require a good amount of play-testing at ITEC).
