I found this recent interview the other day with Pierre Boulez, and I think he makes some very good points. I particularly like it when he says something to the effect of "These people who play the same things 200, 300, 400 times, they do so because they say that 'I discover something every time I play them'. I do not believe that at all." He also makes some very great points about the lack of curiosity among the majority of audiences, (and, to a lesser extent, musicians.)
