Why not consider this...
Contact ABF freight, have them bring over one of their 'ReloCubes' the week before the event, pack all your tubas and percussion in the 'ReloCub', have ABF ship it to your location 3 days before you are scheduled to arrive (Chicago is about 3 trucking days from Miami), do your gigs, pack it back up, send it home.
You could so the same thing with skids and have them moved to your destination hotel.
Either that or rent a truck and send a couple of band victims, er - parents with the equipment a day or two ahead of the flight.
