Hi Tim!

By chance I found some videos from you at youtube where you performed some orchestral sections with trombones at a masterclass or something. Nice stuff, especially the Respighi "Fontane di Roma" part is sensational! Which tuba(s) do you play in your orchestral job?

All the best to you

Buzbee's Tour

At that time I was playing on the 6/4 Nirschl. Since Dec 2006 I have been using a Meinl handmade Baer 6450/2. I use a few other horns from time to time also. Soon I will be trying out a handmade 2265. Too many options!!!Thanks for the nice comments.

We had the pleasure of hosting Tim and Jessica at Baylor today. In a nutshell, their shared recital was a display of some of the best brass playing that I've heard in a long time. The programming was refreshing, Jessica's playing exhibited a finesse rarely heard on a brass instrument (much less one w/a slide!), and Tim's playing was, to be succinct, inspirational. His low register alone is worth the price of admission. I highly recommend driving whatever distance necessary to hear them play.

If anybody is going to Tim and Jessica's recital in Texarkana Saturday, the time has been moved up to 5 PM. I just received a PM from Tim Buzbee and he confirmed that 5 PM is the correct starting time. He is on a train and unable to access the web to edit his post.

If any 'netters are coming, send me a PM as I'd love to meet you.

This is a benefit concert for a wonderful cause...childhood leukemia/lymphoma. Please bring a donation to help save children's lives.

Hi Tim!

I've read all the great comments about your playing and, as mentioned in my post above, I can just nod and say "yeah!".

Any chance to hear you either in Vienna or Berlin, solo or orchestra? I'd love to hear your recital....

so long, tubasound

I thoroughly enjoyed Tim and Jessica's recital tonight. Her trombone artistry is exquisite and Tim's playing was impeccable. It is a rare treat to hear such playing in Texarkana. I know it was a thrill for Tim's former band directors, Mr. Bird, Ms. Manning, and Mrs. Melton.

My favorites were:

Three Furies by James Grant (1st time to hear it)

Six Pack by James Meador

Danny Boy arr. Patrick Sheridan

I enjoyed the Tommy Pederson duet "The Walrus Ordered Waffles". The bass trombonist in symphony owns that set of duets and we're inspired to work on them during rehearsal breaks.

Jessica played a clever jazzy arrangement of Habanera from Bizet's Carman.

Tim, what model of F tuba were you playing? It looked like a MW 45S-LP or a MW 2182.
