Dillon has Nirschl!

Dillon's Nirschl page

Dillon Music is now a direct dealer for Meister Walter Nirschl, Walter Nirschl, and Nirschl line of brass instruments.

Meister Walter Nirschl

Instruments with this engraving are completely hand-made. Walter Nirschl is proud to be one of the last manufacturers world-wide still doing this hand crafted art. All large branches are laboriously manufactured out of flat sheet metal. Only thus can very thin and even wall thicknesses can be realized. Together with the hardness obtained by bending and hammering, these instruments keep an optimum sound and response indispensable for the fastidious musician. The instruments of this line can optimally respond to the needs and desires of the individual musician. This line is available as a special order item only.

Anyone that's a Gemeinhardt dealer formerly had the ability to sell the German made Nirschl horns.

Nirschl

I played a production and a handmade 4/4 at the Midwest in 2006. Both played very well, but the production horn had something special. The only thing I didn't have was an extra pair of ears and a hall to test it in. Based on the limited testing, I would have bought the production horn that day.

Disclaimer: Although I have played lots of tuba, and lots of different tubas, my face was not acclimated to tuba at the time. I had also played a lot of horns in the exhibit hall that day, so my senses may have been somewhat jaded.

I played the piston 4/4 Nirschl at Dillons, it was an amazing horn. I put in a PT-64 (i'm not really a PT mpc kinda guy) and just played some scales and excerpts, and it was absolutely effortless. I barely moved air through it, and it still had a huge open sound. the valves are fast and light, they put the valves on my PT606PS to shame. And from what i remember, it was in the area of $16,000.

Hello,
I wanted to clear up some things. DILLON MUSIC is now the exclusive dealer for German built Nirschl horns.
Gemstone/Gemeinhardt is no longer the distributor of the high end Nirschl horns. Gemstone will continue with the Indian bulit Nirschl products, but the limited numbers of high end tuba sales must not have fit the typical business model of a company used to selling hundreds of flutes, etc.
It was agreed by Walter Nirschl and with approval by Gemstone, that Dillon Music would become the Exclusive distributor in the USA for German built Nirschl tubas. With one less middle man, the price on the high end Nirschl tubas actaully went down. Of course with the Dollar taking such a dive against the Euro, the cost to us Americans is nudging up each day.
Here is the current "A Note from Matt" link found on the New Tubas section of our www.Dillonmusic.com website where I tried to explain the Nirschl situation. https://www.dillonmusic.com/note_from_matt.html
