1983 recording with strong tuba: Louis Armstrong's "Tea

Post by enewberger »

Hi, all. This performance, from a live concert, is one of the New Black Eagle Jazz Band's best. The tuba contributes some nice polyphony and syncopation. I just uploaded it to my website, along with an excerpt from the the nice review of the concert in the Washington Post. To listen, please scroll down to "Tears" on this page: http://www.elinewberger.com/music_listen.html

Thanks,

anyone who's not familiar with Eli's playing is missing out big time!

Eli, a band I played with some 25+ years ago had a transcribed "Mooche" from the NBEJB, not the one you have on the website. I know I've heard the recording, but have no idea what recording it's on. I'll just say that the chart was note-for-note, and was a huge influence on my own playing, as I was just starting out playing jazz. To see the actual lines you played throughout the track somehow opened that world up for me. Thanks, Eli, even though you had no clue or intent!
