Tuba and Flute
Does anyone know of any tuba and flute duets? i might be doing a joint recital with a flute player, and we wanted to play something together.
Thanks
Thanks

Contact "tubabob"; Bob Mitchell
He's in an outstanding duo (sometimes trio with piano) called Flubano. They are "good stuff" and have a pretty big library built up of stuff for that instrumentation. He can also give you an idea of some other pieces stolen from other instruments that work quite well.
He's a good tuba player and lord can that man eat.

You may consider taking a look at:
BW116
7 Baroque Duets
Various/Arr. Barton Cummings $12
Tuba & Piccolo
1. Air, 2. Gavotte, 3. Le Petit Rien, 4. Sarabande, 5. Minuet in Rondo Form, 6. Minuetto in C, 7. Minuet in F
It can be found at: http://www.brassworks4.com/brass_duets.html
A sound sample and a score sample can be found at this site. Its under "odd instrumentation duets"
I realize this is for tuba and Piccolo (not flute) but could still be usable.
If you have any questions, drop me an email.
Thanks

There's a huge amount of duet literature for two flutes or flute and violin. If you can read treble clef, you can just read your part from the book (sounding two octaves down). Otherwise, you can write out your part in your own favorite clef and octave. Some duets will work and some won't -- it will take some experimenting. There's a good chance your flutist colleague has hundreds of flute duets to look at.
Cheers,
Allen

I have written some arrangements for flute & tuba. Here are some of the titles:
Korean Folk Song (Arirang)
The Entertainer
Allegro from William Tell Overture
A Child is Born
....and a bunch of Christmas arrangements:
Jingle Bells
Carol of the Drum
Away in the Manger
Joy to the World
Silent Night
Deck the Halls
If you are interested in any of these arrangements, you can visit my website:

tuba/flute
I have played some arrangements of bach 2 part inventions. I am not sure of the publisher. I thought they were simple to play, but the audience enjoyed them.

double play
There is a GREAT flute/tuba ensemble called Doubleplay http://www.doubleplayfluteandtuba.com/ which was the inspiration for our Flubano work . They received some coverage on NPR last year or two years ago.
The tuba is Patrick Scianella. His wife, Amy Riddings plays Flute. They are quite good!
Flubano is Fransika Nabb, Flute; Darleen Mitchell, Piano and me, Bob Mitchell, Tuba. http://flubano.googlepages.com/ We have played Knuxie's trio and audiences seem to really enjoy it.
