Does M-W make an Eb on the same "Chassis" as their 182 F tuba?

Is the Weirl Eb available with the same configuration as the famous small Bb?

Weril has updated their website, and the only Eb they show is the J330 - top action.
The front-action BBb, j680, isn't listed. Just the 681 - CC.

I'm wondering if they stopped making that terrific little horn.

If so, too bad. I've owned three, and they were all a very good value, but my current (pick of the litter) is comparable to a Yamaha ybb-621 that I played head to head. If the Yamaha wasn't thousands of $ more, I'd have bought it, because it blew a shade more consistently up and down the scale and it's a prettier instrument. But to a listener, I sounded the same on both.

I'm pondering selling my j680, though, because the shipping company says they're delivering my new Miraphone 1291 on Friday

No, they are much nearer the size of the 45 F

Tom Holtz mentioned he was contemplating putting longer slides in his Yamaha 621 F tuba to see how it played as an Eb (perhaps the slides from either the CC or BBb version). It's an interesting concept, although the main slide would need to be fabricated to get it long enough to bring it down to pitch.

Just pulled out the 621 this morning for a quintet job. I don't play it much anymore, and the F fingerings were pretty hazy. A whole set of slide assemblies for a five-valve Yamaha would cost quite a bit, especially for an experiment, but I'm still considering it. It's the best horn for playing while standing that I own.

Except for the helicon, of course.

So, since you'd have to have one fabricated ANYWAY, why not see how it feels with JUST the main slide replaced, and see how the open notes feel / slot / line up? Keeps you from having to commit all your dollars at once, no?

I'm sitting here with a rubber band holding the 5th paddle down, and slides wa-a-a-ay out. It's really pretty good. I wouldn't even consider going to the trouble (and expense) of setting it up in Eb if it wasn't at least playable in 5th-down-slides-out mode.

It's not a project on the front burner, but it's something I'm thinking about. If I owned only the Besson 983, I doubt I'd be rushing out to buy a little 621. However, I don't plan on selling it now that I've got it, because the compact size has proven to be useful too many times.

Maybe they'll let me make one set that takes the 621 to Eb and another set to take the 826 to BBb. All I need is a used 826 for testing.

As i have just had my M-W Eb and 182 out side by side, I thought the difference in size interesting!
