Mr. Silverman certainly has a sense of showmanship, but he is mistaken about being the first with a flaming sousaphone. Dave Gannett had his sousphone rigged to shoot a blast of flame and smoke at critical moments about 20 years ago when he was performing with the Black Dogs.
