Hey -
I play on a BB1 euphonium mouthpiece and I'd like to have it gold plated. Who do I contact about having this done? I've also heard of people going to the mall and having it done at a jeweler - is there a particular chain that you'd recommend, and are there special instructions I need to give them?
Thanks,
Jamie

Re: Mouthpiece Plating
Hi Jamie,
I've always heard that Anderson Plating is the best place to have this done.
Anderson Plating

...There's a pull-down you can click on to contact them. They should write you back pretty quickly.
I'm planing on having a Wick 4AL gold plated on the rim and inside the cup. They told me it would be between $25 to $30 to do what I attached below.

In the past, I would also send everything to Anderson. Even now, if it were an entire instrument, I'd still choose Anderson.
But for mouthpiece prep and plating, I now go directly to Matt and Vladimir at Dillons: great quality, you can have any niggles fixed or modifications made that are necessary/desirable while you're at it, reasonable price, quick turnaround, good communication as to exactly the status, and all in-house so you don't have to worry about it getting lost somewhere along the way. After the Vladimir & Matt treatment of my Curry 128D to recontour the rim to fit my slight overbite, I now have a mouthpiece that is tailored as well to my face as a Saville Row suit, with a superlative finish to match the superlative fit.
