The bow is a nice touch. How many of us have secretely desired to do such a thing?

Yeah...what a big man that sousie player is. As I said the first two times this was posted here, this is thuggish behavior and completely inappropriate.

Not me...I try to avoid intentionally hurting little kids. Standing in front of him and telling him not to run through the band would have sufficed.

And please don't argue about "breaking ranks"...I doubt a seven or eight year old kid got the memo on that.

Enough, no flame wars, no arguing, please. Sean, can we get this closed before it starts again?

Greg wrote:Todd, I enjoy most of your posts. But I'm wondering about your defensiveness on this video. Did you ever run through the band and get tripped by the tuba player? :P
No, I was always in the band. :D I just happen to have a son about that age with special needs, and I can see him getting away and doing something like that. The big problem with this video, at least to me, is lack of context.

Beyond that, however, I'm just distressed at the general meanness I see in this video, and especially the comments on the youtube site. I understand my opinion is in the minority, but I feel it is important to voice it when it comes to an adult just being mean to a kid. I'm very likely over-reacting, but the general atmosphere surrounding this clip hurts my feelings and gives me concerns about the kind of world my kids are going to grow up in. Too many people, especially nowadays, would rather avoid any confrontations than stand up to something or someone they think is wrong or immoral.

If any or all of the folks here disagree, that's fine...I just wanted to express my view in the hope that it might give someone something to think about...that's all. I apologize for coming off as if I'm attacking anyone...that's not my intention at all. Please, as always, feel free to disregard my opinion and judge the video for yourself. No hard feelings. :D

Todds said his piece, fair enough; I liked it. Now can we leave it at that?
