Changes at WWBW

Post by Roger Lewis »

I just want to alert everyone that Woodwind and Brasswind is making some changes in warehouse items. We have moved all of our gear from the 225,000 square foot warehouse that was 1/2 mile away (within reasonably easy reach) to the new one in Kansas City that is 750,000 square feet.

This means that I will not have "instant access" to some products. So if you are coming to try instruments and there is a specific one that you want to try several of, I will need to order it from the KC warehouse at least 3 days in advance to have it here for you.

Yes, it is a little inconvenient, but we are hoping that we wil adjust well to the new situation and continue to have the horns you want here when you are here. I will have about 70 instruments (along with cases) on hand in the Retail warehouse so I should always have a couple of everything available. For example our web page shows that we do not have any Thors in stock. This is not correct as I have two lacquer ones and two silver ones in stock in this warehouse.

I am frequently away from my desk at this time, getting things organized. The best way to reach me is through my personal cell phone - 269-506-5312 or my personal e-mail account - pmflewis (at) gmail (dot) com - which comes directly through to my cell phone. Yes, I'm a trusting sort, publishing my personal phone number and e-mail address.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

All the best.
Roger

Wow. That'll create a heck of a large fuel bill to move stuff back and forth. They thought this cost effective/eco friendly?

We need to remember that we are now part of Musician's Friend and Guitar Center and it is easier to supply ALL of their operations from a centralized warehouse. We will get "replenishment" shipments in every week just as all the Guitar Centers do.

Like anything in life, it takes a little getting used to, but I think we'll be okay.

Roger.... with the majority of the stock in Kansas City... will that facility have the ability to allow a fellow to try out horns there instead of going to South Bend?

Unfortunately we can't try instruments in Kansas City. It's just a warehouse with no facilities for testing instruments. The people working there are, for the most part, non-musicians and wouldn't know how to assist someone in making a selection. It's just a little too big of a challenge for us to do that at this time.

Sorry.

We're going to have some of everything in the showroom, but they have reserved a large portion of the warehouse for the tuba/euphonium inventory. I should have a few student horns on hand and probably all of the professional horns will be based in this warehouse here in South Bend. Things like Thors, Baers, Firebirds, Norwegian Stars, Kodiaks, Fafners, etc, will all be stored here. This is to make it easier for those folks who want to try a bunch of one model to select the one to follow them home.

Peace.

That's actually very good news. I bought my 1291 from Roger after trying a bunch of 1291's at WWBW, doing the side-by-side thing. It's good to know this will still be possible when it comes time to buy another horn.

Rob, whose 1291 has worked out GREAT thus far
