Missing pages in part! Help!

Post by Toobist »

I’m wondering (while panicking) if anyone has the tuba part for “The Blood of Seyavash” by Behzad Ranbaran. It’s part of The Persian Trilogy. In fact I only need whatever might be after page 12. I’ve been taking on the other two pieces and planned to spend the next few days polishing this one especially. I’m a little embarrassed because I didn’t notice over the last 1.5 weeks that I’ve been missing a page (or more?)!

I’m in a bit of a bind as rehearsal is this Thursday!

So, if you have a copy of the part, please be so kind as to email it to me at toobist@rogers.com" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank.

Thanks so much in advance, you’ll have really helped me out.

Wow...it's a rental from Presser. Probably your only chance is to contact them, since, unless someone broke the law and illegally photocopied the tuba part, they can't own it. Sorry.

Cause we all know how unlikely it is that someone has an illegally copied part, right?

Of “The Blood of Seyavash” by Behzad Ranbaran? Yeah...kind of unlikely. Not exactly a staple of tuba orchestral literature.

See if you can get your hands on the score, grab a pencil and some staff paper and get to work. Would rentals be sent with 2 scores? I don't know, but this is worth trying, in my estimation. Otherwise, contact the librarian on Monday, first thing, and get them on the phone to Presser, who I'd like to think would make it right and fax something to you.
(It's a 12 page TUBA part?!?!?!?! )

No, I only have the first 12 pages. Yeah, the tune is a bit of a blow as are the other two pieces in the trilogy. I'm contacting the librarian on Monday of course. It's just that after getting to know the first 12 pages and the other 12 pages in the first 2 pieces, I'd like to have a chance to woodshed these missing pages as much as possible.

It's a 24 page tuba part???????????

Al, are you looking at just the tuba part, or the full score??

Why has no one ever mentioned this monster work before this????

Heh, here I am checking in for the 20th time or so since posting.

Yeah, it's a monster part and is taking a lot of work. There are actually 3 pieces in Ranjbaran's "Persian Trilogy" ("Seven Pasages," "Seemorgh," and “The Blood of Seyavash”) and there's a fabulous recording: (http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/mus ... don+So.htm" target="_blank" target="_blank) I downloaded it from itunes and thank God! If I hadn't been reading/playing along to the recording last night I wouldn't have caught the missing page(s) at all! All three pieces have great tuba parts with very challenging rhythms and technical sections. I can't help but find parallels (and even quotes) in “The Blood of Seyavash” and The Rite – down to the bassoon solo which is toward the end rather than the beginning. There are 4 or 5 really tricky licks on the program and the rest is just pure focus (i.e. counting). I’d put these excerpts on an audition in the same sort of vein as Sensemaya or Stravinsky.
