1291 & 191 & steak dinners

Post by sailn2ba »

Someone inserted "awesome" lows on a 1291 into the discussion of pedals and false tones. I've been considering the Miraphone 1291 to be a piston valve version of the 191. Is that the case?
My perspective is 1291-5UB vs. 191-5UB.

Yes, the 1291 is the piston version of the 191BBb. I have not played the 1291 yet, but the 191 just blew me off the chair. That short bell stack is a marvel! I know that the Cerveny piggy has one, but this is the first BBb that I have ever played in the 'compact' format. The sound just shook me to my core!

The 191 also has an excellent low range.
