Hey Joe-

Been a while - really enjoyed the clips! Haven't been to the NO festival but looks great. Check out and say hi to Matt Perrine, who I'm sure you know is a Scary Tuba Player and great guy. Haven't seen him since he lost his place down there but I think he's back in the area. BTW, the old 186 you fixed up for me ended up with Matt Good to play in quintet. Wish I still had that one, oh well . . .

' heard of these zydeco bands before? They sounded great.

' ate some of the HOTTEST  mudbugs I've ever eaten in my LIFE (all-you-can-eat served backstage w/COLD beverages).

Even one of the guys who grew up in New Orleans and lived there all of his life was coughing.

I'm familiar with both of them and have a few of Buckwheat's recordings.

Pretty impressive that your band was on the same bill!

8 Buckwheat sound samples:

5 Dikki Du sound samples:

bloke’s rambling samples are linked to in his signature. I have one huge complaint about these samples: They are too few!

If you marry off your daughter (to a horn player  ) at your own house, ya' gotta hire your own band!

Congratulations!

And I unwittingly jumped into your busy days with a tech question. Thanks for the answer!

Glad CmR wasn't the small target.

The Mid-East invasion troops in our country also bring guns to their wedding celebrations. But as houses here are not thatched adobes allowing for free bullet passage, terrible things happened when the joyfully expressive shots ricocheted from the concrete roof.

Glad I still can see air between the helicon circle and you.

A webpage wrote:The 2008 Southern Heritage Classic is sponsored by FedEx and features rivals Tennessee State and Jackson State. The game will take place on Saturday, September 13th...

If you get FSN (Fox Sports Network...??) we ( ' Ramblers) be playing the ' Banner on the 50 yd. line before kick-off. It's an early-evening game. (Oh...I'll be the fat white guy with the helicon.)

We did this same gig last year. The Tennessee State and Jackson State sousaphone sections are AWESOME !!!

I've never heard college sousaphone sections play with that much POWER with*out* going horribly sharp and with*out* sounding like a blattfest. Those two bands' sousaphone sections are happening and huge...I think I need to take lessons from those guys...

If they happen to show us at that moment (instead of talking heads behind desks), please burn me a dvd of it!

I have NO idea who hooked us up with this gig, but we're playing in Grand Rapids in the Grandville High School auditorium next Wednesday evening (the 17th) at 7:00 P.M...

...some sort of jazz series:

Come on out, dawg!

Here is a very nice action shot of the band that I just-a-minute-ago discovered on the web. It is from (I think...??) last summer when we worked a couple of days at a Crawdad ("Crayfish"...??) Festival at the Indian casinos in Philly, MS.

It was way over 100 degrees on stage (and wearing suits WITH hats... :( ). We had a fabulous young trombone player on board from New Orleans...sounded like he had been playing with us for years. He'll be famous someday soon (no sarcasm).

The crawdads, beer, and other kept-'em-comin' backstage treats sorta (??) made up for the extreme heat, but (actually) contributed to the heat more than they quenched it.

If you're seeing this thread for the first time and the picture of grandbaby that Scoob linked, she now has a nickname (given to her by her mother)..."Weebee" (short for "wee [ba]by").
