Since you have yet to receive a mouthpiece recommendation ...
I have a pretty good collection. If you will send the Firebird to me, I will donate my time testing it with various mouthpieces and get back to you when I am satisified that I have identified the perfect one.

Matt -

The Greensboro Concert Band will welcome you with open arms. Probably 75% of us are come-backers of one sort or another.

Rehearsals Monday, 7:30 - 9:30 PM
Cultural Center - 200 N. Davie St.

Hack and Hack Junior would also be welcome.

Would that I could be 10% of the hack that they are.

For the Firebird mouthpiece, go with the Bruno Tilz M2. A couple of noted players are enjoying that one now on their Firebirds. I stumbled across it by accident one day and it worked really well on my F. When tried on a Firebird, it brought some nice things to the table. You should be able to get one from Lee Stofer (http://www.tubameister.com" target="_blank).

Just my observations.
