Marty Erickson Signature Mouthpiece

Post by jonesbrass »

Hey! I was wondering if anyone out there knows the rim diameter and throat diameter of the Marty Erickson ME4 or ME5 mouthpiece. I am also interested in any comments from users of those models. Thanks!

Yes, I did a search and didn't find anything . . . but that doesn't mean someone else might find something I didn't . . . :)

Thanks! Do you have any idea of the dimensions of the mouthpiece?

Thanks for the info, TubaGuy63. If the MF5 was designed after the PT-88, with the same rim diameter, that might work.

Cannon. The Doug Elliott set-up I've been using works fine, but doesn't bring out the best aspects of the horns tone, to my ear. The DE works perfect with the derringer, with the smaller, bowl-shaped cup and F tuba shank.

I received a very nice reply on this from Dan Getzen. Here are the specs from DEG, in case there is any interest out there:

ME1 Rim: 1.297" (32.9mm), cup depth 1.745" (44.3mm)
ME2 Rim: 1.286" (32.7mm), cup depth 1.525" (38.7mm)
ME3 Rim: 1.279" (32.5mm), cup depth 1.614" (41.0mm)
ME4 Rim: 1.332" (33.8mm), cup depth 1.718" (43.6mm)
ME5 Rim: 1.308" (33.2mm), cup depth 1.637" (41.6mm)

I hope there aren't any typos or glaring conversion errors!

Hey, Jonesbrass -- you didn't get the throat diameters by chance, did you?

Strangely enough, no. The other specification they provided was the outer diameter of the rim, from which I calculated the rim width. I was also interested in the throat diameter, but didn't get those specs.
