read other threads about copyright protections. If I were listening to auditions and saw you with a photocopy, I'd likely dismiss you right there.

I posted this in another thread, but here it is again. Substitute words as you wish, but it covers what you are doing and the legalities.

1. It will be illegal for someone to copy/scan the music into a computer as this book is not in the Public Domain.

2. It will be illegal for that same person to send you the file through email as you have requested.

3. It will be illegal for you to receive and then print out the files.

4. It will be illegal for you to then use these printouts in your lesson.

Although you may be short on funds (aren't we all?), here are the people you would taking money away from by photocopying:

1. The publisher
2. The store you may have purchased the book from
3. The composer/arranger of the music
4. The distributor of music. In this case, Hal Leonard

And one wonders why it is hard to make a living in music?

eupher61 is 100% dead on about the dismissal. Almost every audition form I have ever seen mentions that originals are required.

You can legally purchase a copy here:

http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/store/smp ... em-_-Title

http://www.hickeys.com/cgi/search.cgi?c ... %20studies

http://www.rkingmusic.com/Results.asp

etc.

Order it today and you will probably get it before your October 29 deadline.

Please remember you may be on the other side someday. Meaning a composer, arranger, publisher, etc.

Just to re-affirm what Mr. Doughty pointed out-

The H.W. Tyrell book appears to have had its copyright renewed, so the transfer you are asking for would be in violation of copyright law.

I suggest you order the book online now and get a shipping option on the more expensive side. This isn't the Old West were you have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for your Arban's. :P

As a follow-up to "The Jackson", please see this link:

It will be copyrighted for a good long while even without renewal. Please note that 1923 is the cutoff point for public domain. More can be found in this thread:

Now back to Mozart which is public domain,
