I found to my cost that if you change your account email and then for some reason do not confirm new address by clicking link in confirmation email, after a while (one month?) the account is deleted. All the posts remain, but the poster is then shown as "Guest".

This request for deletion is very interesting. Another forum I go to had a policy that permanent bans could be given at request, but that forum has since abolished that policy. Very, very interesting.
