Another York
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

Re: Another York
Despite the elephant's damning of these beasts, they sound wonderful. I borrowed a 3 valve beast from a high school to perform Weber's Horn Concertino. Even sworn enemies of the tuba loved its sound, and I loved playing it. I would saw vital anatomical attachments off for this, as I lack funds to get one myself.
I can dream, though. And save the pics

Hmm...
Same seller as this one...

looks like the same horn other than the receiver has been poorly put back on. I thought the seller sold this horn already?

Re: Another York
My apologies. I would love to restore one and add a fifth. Probably become my main horn. Like you, labor is free for me. Ah well...the elephant wrote:

If I were liquid enough right now I would bid on it as a project horn. My labor charges to myself are pretty low, of course, enabling unlimited work to be run up on the ticket…
I'm trying the same thing with a Conn Monster... I'm hopeful it's as useful as I think it'll be. Sounds AMAZING.

Re: Another York
It is really weird huh? I'm thinking about bidding on it, but only on the condition that I can pick it up in person.DavidK wrote:Interesting that it is back on the market so quickly.
Same seller. Different pics of the same instrument. Same large blob of soulder for the lyre holder on the lead pipe. Same stains. Same mouthpiece stuck in the receiver. Identical bell seam key-and-slot brazing details. Exact same white schmutz in the beginning of the J in JW York and at the bottom of the N in & Sons. This time we get the serial number. Hhhmm......makes me wonder....
