Effie Suite...Need an answer to a question

I have several recordings of this piece, including Harvey Phillips' original vinyl LP. There is nary a mute amongst them. You must realize that the piece was scored for more than tuba and piano, especially a marimba, and that changes the timbre a bit from using simply a piano but still no mute in the recordings I have. This does not mean you should not use a mute, if you think it is the sound you want.
