Looks good, but what's the point?

Is it just the anti-scratch?
Presumably if you drop it you'll still leave the shank out-of-round?
This wont change the density of the piece...

Folks bought stainless partly because they don't need plating and wont wear out.

TiN PVD is quite intert--someone who has a sensitivity to stainless won't have a problem with a coated mouthpiece. (Some surgical instruments are coated with it.)

It's also very, very hard (drill bits and other cutting tools are coated with it); it will resist scratching more than will steel.

PVD is also a "slicker", smoother coating, more like gold plating on a standard brass mouthpiece.

PVD coatings are extremely thin--much thinner than gold or silver electroplating. Those gold-tone bathroom fixtures and door hardware are really TiN--far more durable than gold plating.

Does the coating cover all of the mouthpiece including cup, throat, and backbore?

How much more expensive will mouthpieces become from the coating?

This kind of coating would ensure a good grip!

I am terribly eager to try a bloke-piece with this coating, but I am kind of afraid that my usual, very simple, hand tools wouldn’t allow me to work on the backbores like I do with all mouthpieces.

If one would work on this material, which kind of tools would work? Anything short of diamonds?
