I'll bite:

In addition to my Rudy CC and MW 45-SLP, I'd like a Meinl-Weston 2000 CC tuba and a Willson 2900S Euph. That'd do me for awhile.

Interesting - so there is a demand - it is not just me! I would actually prefer a CC Helicon to a light CC tuba for strolling gigs.

If you wonder why a Helicon and not a CC Sousaphone. I do not want to be blown over by the wind when playing on the quay side

I liked the one I played, but keep your eyes out for other horns too! Especially as they are over 2000 new now!
Check these out-
Getzen 1052 (nice horns though I prefer my 1062)-

Bach 50B30 (especially the B/F/bG three down)-

Yamaha 613H-

1062 and very interesting Kanstul Calibre-

Olds P24G-

My 1062 has a fantastic low register, and with a contra mp it borders on the insane.

Or this clean Olds single for $900!
http://tinyurl.com/6jlv3b" target="_blank" target="_blank

I remember you mentioning some hand pain when you play. This Olds would be great. Lighter horn with a good E pull, and an awesome price.
Here, buy it and if you want to sell it in a year to get a double I will buy it off you! :D

----This took me FOREVER to make a clean post out of, so please read it! :D----
Thanks for the suggestions, I've been looking at all options before I settle. My personal favorites were the Jupiter, and some of the pro Yamahas Dillon's had.
----

The PT606P at the Army tuba conference was really nice, I wouldn't having one of those.

- Eb King 1235 front action, recording bell in satin silver.
- Eb (or F if I ever have time to build it) helicon for wondering gigs.
- Original rain-catcher sousaphone.
- Finish the 3 to 4 piston conversion and rain-catcher/sousa/helicon bell conversion on my BBb Whaley Royce Sousa (Huttl stencil I think).

The only other horn I would really want is a Mirafone 186 BBb - and it doesn't have to be new.

Current Stable (Tubas Only)

Guichard Ophicleide in C
Yamaha YBH-301S
Yamaha YEP-321S
Yamaha YFB-621
Boosey & Hawkes Imperial Eb
Conn Monster Eb (in process)
Kalison DS-CC
Alexander 5v 164 "the Grandmother"
King 2341 with both bells
King Sousaphone

If I were to add either an Alex F or a Miraphone 184 CC, I'd be pretty set, though a larger BBb would be nice. But in the best world, some subtle changes:

Guichard Ophicleide in C
Yamaha YBH-621S Baritone
Besson Sovereign Euph (older with large shank)
Yamaha YFB-621
Alexander F
Cerveny F Helicon
Besson Sovereign Eb
Besson 983 Eb
Conn Monster Eb (finished!)
Meinl Weston 2000
King Monster rotory BBb with both bells (these haul a$$!)

Oh hell; throw a Yorkbrunner in there too! Too much fun not to have :-)

Are you listening Santa? I'll make due with just the 184...

An old Martin "Handcrafted" BAT
to go along with my Boosey Imperial Eb or then maybe i would look into getting a Besson 980 Eb with the smaller bell.
or a big besson BBb or VMI 3301 BBb.
and an old King 1240 with lots of dents all over it. Oh wait I already have one of those...

Greetings,

I haven't been playing long enough (recently) to have a finely focused desire for any particular instrument. However....there are several which I think fall into the 'wouldn't that be cool to have' category.

1. Conn 20K, silver. Hey, I know, it's just the metal twin of my 22K, but I know a little about playing it, and it's big and SHINY.

2. BBb helicon. Old, and lavishly engraved.

3. Small tuba, 'relatively' easy to carry. Something handy for taking to company Xmas parties to support our accordion and clarinet players.

4. Contrabass OTS Saxhorn (better be in BBb since that's all I've played so far) Simply because it looks cool.

5. Contrabass ophicleide - maybe a box-o-cleide or a PVC-pipe-o-cleide, just for the fun of building it.

6. Cimbasso (again, BBb) But since I'm more a sousaphone than a trombone type of guy, it should be wrapped into the shape of a helicon. Who knows, the helicimbassocon might be the next big thing for marching bands!

7. Alp horn. I was one of several volunteers (tourists) who got to try one on stage in Lucerne, and even managed to get a few notes out. But I want to try again, this time with a better mouthpiece. And once I know how to play a few songs, I'll go to Presbyterian Heritage Sunday and show that Scottish bagpiper that Presbyterians have a Swiss heritage as well. ;-)

8. Clear plastic sousaphone, along the lines of a Conn Jumbo or a King Giant. Being clear means that we can see where the beer can, the tennis ball, and the stuffed animal are wedged in the instrument; and being clear also means that the bell can be 30" or more, since we can see through it instead of looking around it.

9. Enough extra horns for my friends to come over and play along. That would be a good Christmas indeed!.

Hope that you've found these humorous if not also interesting.

Perry, part of your dreams has been realised.

This huge OTS bass will not only break your back. The bell went also allows you to break wind!

Nice!

Now imagine if you will, one of those with a little leadpipe modification to turn the instrument around. Eat your heart out, herald trumpeters: Behold, the herald tuba!
