Amati Euphonium

Post by Ace »

Anyone on this board tried an Amati euphonium, model 342A in C/Bb, four top pistons, .559" bore, 11" bell ? I'm interested in comments only about this specific model, not general comments about the Amati line. Thanks.

I am not sure it was the same model number, but I borrowed a 4 top piston about 5 years ago for a patriotic gig. I was not impressed. The higher I went, the stuffier it got. By the time I reached the Bb in the treble staff it was really a bear to control or tune. The low range was nice.
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.
