Re: Besson
ist's a complicated history
the india - made instruments were the student horns, not the pro-line
briefly, the last years of Besson in England, the parts were made by Keilwerth in Germany, but assembled in the UK
this explains sometimes poor assembly quality
now the york brand is completely made by keilwerth in germany, besson is made by buffet in germany, an ex worker of besson make now the brand sterling and some other ones make LMI (london musical instruments)
something like that, the complete story is a 2-pager I guess...

Re: Besson
They are being manufactured at the JA Musik factory in Germany. http://www.ja-musik.com/seiten/index_en.php
Boosey had sold them to an investment company called The Music Group who also bought several other ailing instrument manufacturers including Buffet-Crampon. These instruments were plagued by poor plating and flaky valves.
In 2005 Buffet-Crampon regained their independence and acquired Besson and Courtois. Low brass is being manufactured in Germany and High & Middle brass in France.
