Ophicleide sighting in Sydney, Australia

I saw (and heard) a terrific ophicleide performance last week – Nick Byrne playing the 1st movement of Simon Proctor's newly-written concerto (in piano reduction, accompanied by David Miller). It was at a lunchtime lower brass student recital at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music; I guess Mr Byrne must have snuck in while nobody was watching.

An absolute treat! An entirely convincing performance in every regard. Catch him if he's performing anywhere near you!

Nick is a wonderful Ophicleide player, and a great guy.

He recently released a CD called "Back from Oblivion", which is simply amazing.
