Me & My Tuba, Add You & Yours

Post by Mister JP »

Several TubeNetters have posted photos of themselves and their horns, or have them as their avatars, so I'll start a topic devoted to just that, Tubenetters & their tubes, er... tubas.

Here I am in the basement, my usual practice place.

He shoots, he scores! '93 or '94, I cant remember for sure. The blue logo on the tuning slide is the dead giveaway.

schlepporello, awesome one on Pike's Peak.

Thanks for playing along, y'all, keep 'em coming.

Dan, your Conn monster looks a whole lot like the King monster I formerly owned. It's now in a noted collector's collection.

me-and-my-Monke-1979.jpg
I bought this 3/4 BBb Monke from Don Thornton http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Klezmorim and used it for playing with the Churchill Street Jazz Band. The picture was taken after a very long Santa Cruz Jazz Festival set (30 years ago.)

I know Monke still makes cornets and flugelhorns but this is most likely a stencil, unknown maker, post-WW2 ?. I had the linkages upgraded.

How about this 1918 USQMC Conn?
1918-conn-BBb-1978.jpg
I rescued it from a basement - removed the duct tape and nasty stuff growing in it and had it reassembled. Not a bad use of $350! Sold it to someone on the East Coast a few years ago. The band is http://ltwcmb.com/ (see if you can find a somewhat famous person playing sousaphone in our 2009 parade coverage.)
