Conn 5J

Post by daveinem »

I am bidding on a 5J right now, but I find it's from the late 70's/early 80's, which in Conn terms means the (dreaded) Abilene years of manufacture. My question is, were the 5Js made by Olds at that time (as the olds 2Js were)? Any help would be appreciated!

I'm think it was made by Conn, not by olds. But then again olds went out of business in 1980 and Bach bought a lot of their tooling so..I could be wrong. But there were some pretty good "Abiline" made horns. My old school had a couple of them and were great players.
