Jupiter tuba stands

Post by timdicarlo »

I ordered a Jupiter replica of the K&M tuba stand from the Woodwind-Brasswind in late November of last year, and it has yet to be delivered. Until about a month ago, I figured they were just horribly backed up and couldn't turn them out fast enough to meet the demand, but now I'm having my doubts. The shipping date was set at 4-28, and has been pushed back daily so that the estimated shipping date is always exactly one week away (i.e. yesterday it said 5-8, and today it says 5-9, etc.). Anybody have the same problem or know what's going on with these? I really need a tuba stand, but I don't want to pay double for the K&M version if these are going to actually ship soon. I'm at wit's end here. Can anybody shed some light on my predicament?
Thanks.

I would advise you contact WW/BW and cancel the order. I should not take 6 months for them or anyone else to ship you a tuba stand (a custom made TUBA, yes...tuba stand? I don't think so)

Check out this stand on ebay and see what ya think:

Save yourself the trouble---cancel the order and get one quickly from Baltimore Brass! I have never played the Jupiter version, but I have the K&M and it doesn't come close to the utility of the BB stand, and for under $80. 8)

Not to confuse the issue, but my response was in re: a PLAYING stand, not one which holds a tuba when you are NOT playing. If this is what you want, then disregard my earlier post and accept my apologies! :?

I have one of those stands.

It's a knock-off of the Jupiter knock-off (which I also have) of the K&M. It's fine for my old beater TubaChristmas horn, but I don't let my good horns come anywhere near it.

Well, lo and behold, just as I was about to cancel the order the damn thing showed up at my door. Not sure it was worth six months of frustration, but it works great!
