Penderecki Errata

Post by Tubainsauga »

I have a question regard the waltz section of the Penderecki Capriccio. I rhythm given is and 8th note followed by a 16th rest followed by 2 more 8th notes (the first of these 2 with a tenuto). A while back there was an article in the ITEA journal concerning some errors and interpretations of this piece advised by Penderecki himself and there is no mention of this section as an error but many seem to have changed the rhythm to a standard 3/8 feel by changing the second note to a 16th, a rhythm which occurs later in the section. Any thoughts?

A couple years ago I contacted Schott Publisher and they confirmed that it is a mistake--the 8th should be a 16th.
