He's got to be including the valve tubing. 290" = 24' - 2"

No, it is a FF tuba, not an F tuba. It is a contrabass in low F.

I've never seen one and haven't heard one mentioned since... ancient days. I thought it was a myth.

Well, follow the main branch around, bearing in mind that the whole thing is nearly 4 feet long. It makes three loops, plus the leadpipe.

This guy has been selling weird old tubas and helicons on ebay for years, and he doesn't play but he knows his stuff. If he says it's 24 feet long, I'd go with that. I also believe he knows a way to ship it to the US for $149, but it isn't going to be deluxe.

Huge used Bb Tuba with 4 rotary valves. It is probably the biggest Tuba I ever had. I guess it is a Bass Tuba or Kaiser bass tuba(??) Size of the horn is 46 inch/117cm. The bell meassures 16inch/40 cm.

FF? whuteva. It isn't that big. The seller is probably accidentally measuring the fourth valve slide in the total length number. This tuba is tall. It is not what I would call a "big tuba".

The seller is honest, but nobody can be honest beyond his own understanding of matters. And this seller knows nothing about brass instruments. Yet, he normally gets it right about measuring the main bugle only for a pitch evaluation. Something went wrong here so that he included the 4th valve tubing.

Aside of his other qualities bloke also is pretty well equipped brainwise. He knows about feigning. Which he did here to pull one on Pachy.

If not a proper B&S, then from a maker using B&S parts.

I'm holding out for FF - Bloke didn't put one over on anyone. Sadly, as remarkable and unique as an FF contrabass would be, probably not worth much as a player? I mean, ordinary repertoire would be a nightmare.
