In my complete ignorance of events, venues, tubaists, and (except for the most familiar) Hee-Haw artists, I'm going to guess that the church is Anglican/Episcopal.

The young lady in question was a regular on Hee Haw 1980-1990 and owes her musical career to Jack Paar, Bob Hope, and Buck Owens (not necessarily in that order).

Charles Giambrone was a bassist in a band she sang with. I figured he could also play tuba.

He was there last night, too. It was a bit of a reunion for players active in the BHM nightclub scene in the '60s and '70s.

I enjoyed the set (some of it was a bit over-the-top for the relatively small room - but it was what it was, and that was mostly good).

Rubio was on keyboards, and they went through a bit of business about how keyboard was his "secondary instrument". After talking for a few minutes about whether he had brought his "horn", they trotted out the Sousaphone from backstage, and...music happened.

Today was "all Big Band, all the time (except for one Blues Brothers set)". It was very interesting to see three college groups (well, one was mostly faculty/alumni) and then the top local players close out the day. Same instrumentation, very similar selections - BIG difference in overall effect.

The group from Jacksonville State had a tuba in the trombone section (I think he was mostly doubling the bass trombone part). Alas, he was not playing a 20J. Instead, he had a new, shiny silver, wide throated Miraphone.
