I bought a 2165 from Dillon Music last year while I was visiting NYC. I was concerned at the time about how far the mp went in to the receiver. Matt Walters was very helpful and explained it was the gap between the end of the mp shank and the beginning of the leadpipe that was important not where the mp appears to sit in the receiver. He even had one of those receivers there to show me where the leadpipe sits within it and what the end of the shank looked like in it. As such I have just used American shank pieces and the horn plays magnificently (incidentally it used to belong to Ja'tik Clarke in Oregon and has had the modifications to effectively make it a 2265). I currently use a Curry 130G - it brightens the horn a little which I like. The Curry mp's are also only $US100 at Dillons.

Just my two cents:

I think the LM 4 would be a good mouthpiece. It's 33.2, and it's a flat rim. Stainless steel is also a great plus, super smooth. It's a German Bowl Shaped mouthpiece, rather than a funnel like the MF3 is. loudmouthpieces.com Just a suggestion.
