MW 2011FA lead pipe position?
I was noticing that the lead pipe enters the valve block via the 4th valve on this tuba as in a trumpet. Are ther any others out there with this feature? Has anyone played one? What kind of changes in playing characteristics might one expect from this configuration as opposed to the normal 1st valve entry?
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

Re: MW 2011FA lead pipe position?
I played one of these when I visited the factory. I can't say I noticed the unusual routing to the 4th valve first (and would not know what difference that made), but I thought it played very well indeed. To me better than the original top valve version which I tried it against.
I thought it would make a very good small ensemble/quintet tuba. A BBb with more of a bass tuba tone and response.
