Re: 11 pieces for orchestra with low Db = steak dinner
Every once in a while, against my better judgement, I attempt to warn someone off a bad idea. It never works but here goes.......Let it go James. Let it die a natural death.
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

That's called "tenderizing" (when it's not a horse) (of course).the elephant wrote:Beating a dead horse.

I don't mind, it keeps things interesting. I'd just call you...interesting. Are you "the most interesting man in the world?"

Agreed. Offered, declined, and hardly a "hot topic" in the world of orchestral tuba playing.the elephant wrote:Beating a dead horse.
But, then again, that point was made 8 pages and 12 months ago.

Re: 11 pieces for orchestra with low Db = steak dinner
I am a hopeless case, I suppose. My horn (Mira 186) is called a contrabass tuba, no? The instructor I had in college told me that my 'fundamental' pitch was the first Bb under the bass clef staff. Am I to believe that my 'fundamental' is an octave below that? That pitch is extremely difficult to play (it sounds to me like a tuned fart). While I can play it, there is only one band piece (I am not an orchestral player, these days) - The Children's March (Grainger?) that even has it.
Rick or Neptune or some other genius; would you be so kind as to illuminate this subject for me? Off board would be just fine. I don't want to be made a public fool (I've been there too many times).
