CC tubas

Post by Tubaman2 »

I have been playing for about a year, and I really like tuba. I am seriously considering it as a professiona career. I was wanting to know what kind of tubas are out there. CC tubas to be exact. I have looked at the MW 5450 THOR and the Miraphone 1291. But what else is out there?

If you gotta have a C tuba (not hating on C tubas!), I think the 1291/2 is the best choice. Affordable, great intonation, ridiculous low range, great sound and ergonomics,... Also a great larger contrabass if you want to add a bass tuba someday. If you want a contrabass tuba to be your only tuba ever, something slightly smaller might be better (I've played some really nice 2145's; not a huge fan of the 56J and even less so of the PT606; even with that I do gotta give love to the classic sound of the 56J).
