Belshazzar's Feast part

Hi all,

Got the oppurtunity (if I want!) to do a big programme with a very good amateur orchestra, in an International Concert Hall (Bridgewater Hall, Manchester) but have limited rehearsal time.

Belshazzer's Feast (Main part, but there will be 2 additional bands)
Bliss Piano Concerto
Parry Blest Pair of Sirens.

Is anyone able to let me see parts? Or know ranges/ideal keys of Tubas etc?!

It's a good oppurtunity, but one I'm willing to turn down if I haven't got the tools for the job!

I have the BF part, give me you email and I'll send it to you. Sorry I don't have the Parry or Bliss.

You could play it on a big tuba, but in an English amateur orchestra I'd choose a big Eb

Range G octave below stave to Bb on top stave. I played it on Eb.

I remember getting a real buzz playing Blest Pair of Sirens in Salisbury Cathedral, while Belshazzer's Feast is high on my list of 'want to play', so would be happy if you passed on the gig to me, if you don't take!

Don't have parts.... Played it about 10 years ago in Louisville. Maybe the most fun orchestral tuba part I've ever played. Part ranges from low F to middle C (as I recall). Lots of big playing with some very nice solo moments.
It's definitely big tuba material, without doubt. If you turn the gig down let me know, I'll come over with the Alex for a chance to play that piece again!!!

A rare opportunity to perform this massive and wonderful piece.
I got to play it (orchestral part) in the 70s while a student at North Texas (CC tuba).
If rehearsal time is limited, you may want to listen to any of the fine recordings out there. My cd is London Sym. on EMI w/ Andre Previn.

Hi Andy - Ive done both the Parry and Walton fairly recently - and I even remember whipping out the BBb for the Walton although there were a few hairy upper register parts I seem to remember - well worth having a toot thouugh

Not mine! I personally do not believe in writing in fingerings. It does not half annoy me those brass banders writing Eb fingerings on bass clef orchestral parts, or even worst changing the key signature, or accidentals to treble clef

Excellent gig, really enjoyed the Walton, and both that and the Parry suited BBb well.

As an update and for reference, if anyone ever searches, there is no Tuba part for the Bliss Piano Concerto, although there are 3 trombone parts.

Played it on the Imperial BBb (4 Valve). LMI is too "woofy"
