Willson 3200 F tuba mouthpieces
I play on a Willson 3200 F and I am experimenting on some different mouthpieces. I currently have picked a Bobo Solo, but I wanted to know what some of you (who play on a 3200) use?

The 3200 is my main horn right now. I'm using a Giddings & Webster Caver. I don't really need anything else.

I would think the caver would be too large since it is designed for CC/BBb. Why do you find this one works best?jonesbrass wrote:The 3200 is my main horn right now. I'm using a Giddings & Webster Caver. I don't really need anything else.

Since I use the 3200 as my main horn, I like the tone it helps me produce on the F. FWIW, I use this same mouthpiece on my little Cerveny F. It happens to have the mouthpiece diameter (33.5mm) and shape that works for me. I also have a Doug Elliott that I used for years (with the same diameter), but find that I don't use it anymore on F or CC.tubacorbin wrote:I would think the caver would be too large since it is designed for CC/BBb. Please don't take the following the wrong way: I don't subscribe to anyone else's idea of what is "right". One size does not fit all. The most important thing is to figure out what works for you. I know what works for me. I also know of a principal tubist in a major orchestra who also uses the Caver as his F mouthpiece.

Do you use the standard shank or the euro shank? I'm going to try one out and see if I like it.

I use the ME2. Any of the Marty Erickson mouthpieces will work, just gotta find the right one for you, I guess.

I'd like to bring this topic back, I own a willson 3200 4 pistons 1 rotor.
I am just using my schilke 67 right now because its what is most comfortable.
any recommendations please.

Re: Willson 3200 F tuba mouthpieces
Assuming the 3200 F is roughly the equivalent of the 3400 Eb tuba Willson makes, I would suggest a Laskey 30F. That's what I use on my 3400 and it works great. If you prefer a more narrow mouthpiece, Laskey also makes the 30F as a 28F which is slightly more narrow on the inside diameter of the rim. Good luck!
My opinion for what it's worth...
